Trademark Licensing Director
Dale is currently the Trademark Licensing Director at The University of Iowa, a position that he has held since 2002. Previously Dale directed The University of Iowa Athletics Department Merchandising Program from 1986 to 2002. Combined he has a diverse thirty plus years of experience in the collegiate licensed products industry as a buyer, seller, marketer, and licensor of college licensed products. Dale is an active member of the International Collegiate Licensing Association where he is a past-president, two term board member, and 2013 Hall of Fame inductee.

Trademark Licensing Assistant Director
Kirk is the Assistant Trademark Licensing Director for the University of Iowa. Kirk is new to the Trademark Licensing office but has 19 plus years of experience with the University of Iowa. Kirk previously worked for the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore for 19 years, serving in a number of capacities, most recently as Store Director. He also has experience buying and selling collegiate licensed products and extensive experience with event operations.

Taylor Ackerman |

Taylor is a Senior at the University of Iowa pursuing a double major in Marketing and Management within the Tippie College of Business. She began working for The University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame & Museum in October of 2023. Outside of work, Taylor is involved in the Tippie Business Honor Society on the Professional Development Committee and is involved in the SALT Company. She is from Burlington, Iowa and enjoys playing soccer, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Hawkeyes. Taylor anticipates graduating in May of 2024.

Max is a Sophomore at the University of Iowa pursuing a double major in Sports and Recreation Management and Finance. He began working for The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Program and the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame & Museum in August of 2022. Outside of work, Max enjoys working out, skiing, and is a manager for Iowa Baseball. Max anticipates graduating in 2026.

Madison Hatfield |

Madison is a Junior at the University of Iowa. She is pursuing a major in Marketing with a minor in Sport and Recreation Management and a certificate in Sustainability. She began working for The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Program and The University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame & Museum in November of 2022. Outside of work, she is a member of the Hawkeye Sports Business Association and of the University of Iowa Club Softball Team. Madison is originally from West Branch, Iowa, and enjoys traveling, watching sports, and cheering on the Hawks. She anticipates graduating in the spring of 2025.

Brooke is a Junior at the University of Iowa majoring in Marketing and minoring in Sport and Recreation Management. She began working for The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Program and The University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame & Museum in March of 2024. Brooke is a member of the American Marketing Association, the University of Iowa Club Soccer Team, and she is a Marketing Institute Scholar. In her free time, Brooke enjoys playing sports, reading, and watching movies. She anticipates graduation in the Spring of 2025.

Madisen is a Sophomore at the University of Iowa. She is pursuing a double major in Finance and Accounting at the Tippie College of business. She began working for The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Program and The University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame & Museum in October of 2023. Madisen is from Altoona, Iowa. Outside of work, Madisen enjoys spending time with friends and family, lifting, and participating in extracurriculars on campus. Madisen anticipates graduating in the fall of 2025.

Austin McLellan |

Austin is a second-year law student at the University of Iowa College of Law and has a passion for the intersection of the world of sports and law. He is a current representative for the University of Iowa Graduate and Professional Student Government and wants to be a sport team’s in-house counsel after graduation. Outside of school, he loves golfing, photography, working out, and going to any and all Hawkeye games. Originally from Vacaville, California, he is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Outside of work, Madison is a member of The University of Iowa Club Softball team and Hawkeye Sports Business Association. She anticipates graduating in the Spring of 2025.

In her free time, Sydney enjoys hanging out with friends and family, watching movies, and cheering on the Hawkeyes. She anticipates graduating in the Spring of 2026.

Austin is a Senior at the University of Iowa pursuing a major in Marketing within the Tippie College of Business, as well as a minor in Sports and Recreation Management. He began working for The University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame & Museum in August of 2023. Outside of work, Austin is involved in the business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. He is from North Aurora, Illinois and enjoys playing golf, participating in intramurals, and spending time with friends and family. Austin anticipates graduating in May of 2024.

Matthias Steen |

Matthias is a second-year graduate student in the University of Iowa’s Sport and Recreation Management Master’s Program. He began working for The University of Iowa Athletics Hall Fame & Museum and The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Program in June of 2023. Outside of work, Matthias is an intern for the University of Iowa Athletics Compliance Department and is in-training to be volunteer firefighter for the Coralville Fire Department. He is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and enjoys working out, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Hawkeyes. Matthias received his bachelor’s from the University of Northern Iowa, double majoring in Exercise Science and Sport Psychology, and he is anticipated to graduate December of 2023.

Alex is a Senior at the University of Iowa majoring in Sport and Recreation Management. He began working for The University of Iowa Trademark Licensing Program and The University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame and Museum in January of 2023. Alex enjoys officiating basketball and soccer, playing tennis and golf, and watching sports.
